ASP.NET 2/3.5 MembershipProvider Skeleton

There's no easy way to whip up a quick MembershipProvider skeleton class for the times that you need a basic authentication system but don't need the whole bloated AspNet*Provider schema polluting your database. When you want to roll your own (since most implementations are bloated for very simple projects,) you can start with this skeleton which contains the basic ValidateUser method implemented in LINQ on a basic table called User.

Minimal Login Form with Drupal

One technique that is seen on A List Apart for creating a minimal login form design was used as a basis for what is done at Digital Alternatives. Unfortunately, given the current level of implementation of CSS3 in even the most modern browsers, and the non-support in others, this is impossible to accomplish consistently without some level of scripting.
